Our Favourite B12 Supplement & Why We Take B12

Veganism, B12, and B12 deficiency is a topic of conversation that all vegans hear at least once in their vegan lifetime. The debate whether vegans get enough B12 and over the naturalism of taking a B12 supplement is, unfortunately, ongoing. For me and Sam, the answer is quite simple, it's all about balance baby. Whether you are a meat eater, vegetarian, pescatarian, paleo or vegan, if you do not consume enough foods that contain B12, you should probably supplement. More importantly, we think you should do both. Personally, I feel more energized and have a clearer mind whenever I take B12. We are going to lay out your plant-based options for eating B12 and the best vegan B12 Supplement to take!

Plant-Based Foods High in B12:

  1. Nutritional Yeast - Nutritional Yeast is an inactive yeast made from sugar cane and beet molasses which comes in various forms. It's a great source of B6, B12, folates, riboflavin and zinc. You can use it to create vegan sauces, vegan cheese, dressings or add it to any vegan dishes in need of a cheesy and nutty flavour.
  2. Soy Mylk - Soy Mylk is a great source of B 12. 1 cup of soy mylk will provide you with half of your daily value of B12!

Our favourite B12 Supplement:

My Kind Organics B12 Spray - My Kind Organics B12 Spray is one of the only whole food vegan B12 supplements on the market. It's gluten-free, organic and in spray form. It also tastes good, which is an added bonus. And it comes in a spray form which is convenient for travel and when you are on the go.
